Frequently asked questions.

  • At your first appointment, the osteopath will begin by taking a thorough medical history and asking about your symptoms. They will then perform a physical assessment, which may include tests such as range of motion evaluations and orthopaedic or neurological assessments. Using this information, your osteopath will develop a personalised treatment plan, which may include hands-on techniques like massage or joint mobilisation.

  • Yes, you can receive osteopathic treatment in all stages of pregnancy, if there are no serious associated complications. Osteopaths can help manage pregnancy-related discomfort such as back pain, pelvic pain, and postural issues, using gentle techniques tailored to your needs.

  • It’s important that you feel comfortable, so wear a comfortable shirt and loose pants or shorts. Depending on the area of your body requiring treatment, your osteopath may ask you to undress to your underwear. We have gowns available for you to wear.

  • Initial consultations typically last between 40-45 minutes, as they include a thorough assessment and treatment. Follow-up appointments generally last 30 minutes, depending on your treatment plan.

  • The number of sessions required varies based on your condition, its severity, and your response to treatment. Your osteopath will discuss a treatment plan with you after the initial assessment and adjust it as needed.

  • Osteopathic treatments are covered by most private health insurance plans with extras cover. Be sure to check with your provider to see what your policy includes.

  • The full appointment fee is to be paid at the time of consultation. The Medicare rebate of $60 will be directly credited to the bank account you have set up with Medicare within a few days.

We require a valid EPC referral from your GP prior to your appointment to process the Medicare Rebate.

  • Cancellations and rescheduling must be made with at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee.

Cancellations, reschedules, or non-attendance with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment cost.

  • Your Personal Health Information and Medical Record may be collected, used, and disclosed for reasons including communication with other healthcare providers, appointment reminders, accounting/insurance, legal requirements (e.g., infectious disease reporting, court orders), research (de-identified), and practice-wide consultation.
